Microsoft’s operating system is full of all kinds of notifications, some of which look like disguised advertising. We help you deactivate them.
With Windows 10, Microsoft really likes to give you advice, but sometimes it gets a little too intrusive, when it doesn’t get advertised. If you don’t want to be bothered by intrusive messages and other popups, here are the settings you need to change.
1 – Start menu and screensaver
Click the button of the Start menu, then on the small gear icon to access Windows settings. Click on the icon Customization.

In the list on the left, click Home. Then locate the switch Occasionally display suggestions on the start screen and switch it to Deactivated.

In the list on the left, click Lock Screen. Choose Picture Where Slideshow in category Background. Then position on Deactivated the switch Customize the lock screen from Windows and Cortana.

2 – File Explorer
Start the file explorer by clicking on its icon in the taskbar or by the Windows + E key sequence. Click on the tab Display, at the top of the window, then on the icon Options located on the left in the toolbar.

In the window Folder options that appears, click on the tab Display. Scroll through the list in the advanced settings and uncheck the box View notifications from the sync provider.
3 – Sharing function
Launch the Edge Internet browser and go to a website. Click on the icon To share, located at the top right and with an arrow (see image below). In the Share window that appears, right-click one of the applications, for example Mail.

Finally, uncheck the option Show application suggestions.
4 – Other notifications
In Windows settings (see step 1), click on the icon System, then on Notifications and actions in the list on the left.

Toggle the switch off Get tips, tricks, and suggestions when using Windows. You can also deactivate the function Show me the welcome Windows experience after an update, located just below.
