Hyperion XP-1: Fuel cell supercar

The American start-up Hyperion has presented its XP-1. The new supercar not only looks remarkable, its powertrain is also very special.

The XP-1 is a brand new hypercar from the American start-up Hyperion, which we first got wind of in January this year. Today, the ambitious company is showing the first images of its first-born, an extravagant extremist with a fuel cell on board.

Unfortunately, Hyperion is keeping detailed specs of the XP-1’s powertrain under wraps. The manufacturer does report that the XP-1 has a range of no less than 1,610 kilometers. The electric motor-driven exotic must be able to roar to 97 km / h (60 mph) in less than 2.2 counts. Its top speed? An impressive 354 km / h.

At least as interesting as the XP-1’s powertrain is the carriage that Hyperion has folded around the technology. The almost art-deco Especially from the side, XP-1 resembles the Bugatti’s Veyron and Chiron. This is probably mainly due to the two concave lines that adorn the flank. We see voluptuous shapes, huge cooling openings, slots and remarkable lighting. At the rear we see two exhaust tailpieces placed one above the other. At the bottom of the XP-1’s strikingly pointed muzzle, we notice a design element that refers to those blowpipes. You gain access to the eccentric monster through upward and forward hinged butterfly doors. Of course, the interior is also designed with the necessary flair to say the least. Hyperion mentions a 2.5-meter curved display that covers the entire center console and center tunnel. Of course, a screen is also placed behind the steering wheel that is cut open at the top.

Hyperion will later release more information about the XP-1.
