Hyundai will collaborate with taxi platform Uber in Europe. Fully electric Hyundais are to be widely used by Uber drivers.
Uber wants to make its fleet of connected cars increasingly fully electric. There it will be fully deployed in Amsterdam by 2025 and more large cities will follow. In that year, according to the targets, half of all Uber journeys in seven major European cities will be done entirely electrically. In 2030, Uber wants a completely emission-free fleet. Hyundai sees an opportunity here for its electric cars and is now concluding that by entering into a strategic partnership with the taxi platform.
Hyundai is making the Kona Electric and Ioniq Electric available to Uber drivers at a discount. In this way it should become more accessible to work with these electric cars as drivers for the platform. Uber drivers will be notified of the availability of the Kona Electric and Ioniq Electric in their app. Over time, other Hyundai electric models will also be made more attractive for use by drivers in this way. So don’t be surprised if, for example, the new Ioniq 5 can often be seen in our capital as an Uber taxi in the long run.
