With the Ioniq 5, Hyundai has started its purely electric offensive interestingly, but there is more to come. The Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 7 are also being prepared and Hyundai in the US is now letting go a little more.
Last summer, Hyundai presented Ioniq as the label for a range of electric cars on its modular E-GMP platform. They let go that it starts with the Ioniqs 5, 6 and 7. The Ioniq 5 has now been unveiled, the next on the introduction schedule is the Ioniq 6. We got a preview of this in the form of the Prophecy Concept.
Ioniq 6
The Ioniq 6 is scheduled for the end of 2022, among others Carscoops from the American branch of Hyundai. In terms of size, the Ioniq 6 will be in the middle segment, with which Hyundai undoubtedly has the Tesla Model 3 as the main competitor. According to the Americans, Hyundai has already released that the Ioniq 6 will receive a battery pack with a capacity of 73 kWh. In terms of powertrains, there will be two choices for the time being: the entry-level version has one electric motor that produces 218 hp. Above it is a version with two engines and therefore four-wheel drive. It squeezes 313 electric horsepower. The expected driving range is roughly 480 km. In terms of specifications, the Ioniq 6 is therefore close to the versions of the Ioniq 5 with the same battery pack.

Ioniq 7
We have to wait a little longer for the Ioniq 7. It will come ‘early 2024’ and will be a pretty hefty SUV (seen in the middle of the photo above). Both in terms of size and powertrains, it is clearly a bit higher in the market. The Ioniq 7 optionally has seven seats and is basically already equipped with the 313 hp drivetrain with two electric motors. In the Ioniq 7, they get their zest for life from a 100 kWh battery pack. Although that is a larger battery pack, the size of the Ioniq 7 ensures, among other things, that the driving range is approximately equal to that of the comparable motorized Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, so roughly 480 km.
