Hyundai recently pulled the curtain on a playful, tougher yet smaller brother for the i10 in its home country of South Korea: the Casper. The miniscule crossover-like named after a skateboard trick can now be seen from the inside for the first time.
In Europe, the 3.67 meter long i10 is the smallest Hyundai, but in South Korea it has recently become the Casper. The Hyundai Casper is an almost 3.6 meter short cart with a 2.4 meter wheelbase. Why is he so small? Cars that are 3.6 meters or shorter are eligible for tax benefits in South Korea, among other things. The exterior of the Casper, which incidentally shares its platform with the i10, was already extensively admired and today we can present you the interior of the playful little one.
Hyundai Casper
The Casper has a stubborn interior, complete with digital instruments and a multimedia screen placed high at the top of the dashboard. Striking is the logoless steering wheel as in the Ioniq 5, but the center console also attracts attention. There is a decent button battery placed with which you can control the climate control and the automatic transmission, among other things. There is no place for a manual poker here, because the Casper only comes on the market with a four-speed automatic. Striking is the otherwise fairly minimalist design of the dashboard that even remotely evokes connotations with the interior of the primal Panda. Nice detail are the fully flat forward folding backrests of the front seats.
The Hyundai Casper is available with a naturally aspirated 1.0 MPi three-cylinder petrol engine and with the turbo brother of that power source, the 1.0 T-GDI. The starting price in South Korea is converted to € 10,015. For the most expensive version, the Inspiration, you will lose at least € 13,520. Is he going to cannibalize with the i10 in South Korea? No, Hyundai does not supply the i10 domestically. However, the manufacturer has the Venue on the menu, a 4 meter long crossover that is technically related to the i20 and Bayon, costing € 12,220 to € 16,480.
