Hyundai Motor predicts that the sales numbers of Hyundai and Kia will increase by 11.5 percent next year. If that forecast is correct, it would represent a significant leap forward for South Korean car brands.
In 2021, Hyundai and Kia expect to jointly sell 7.08 million cars. In this prediction, it is taken into account that the impact of the corona virus on the car industry will be a lot less severe in the coming year. The target is less optimistic than in 2020, but should be taken with a grain of salt. The manufacturers have been according to it for six years in a row Reuters namely failed to meet their sales targets. For last year, Hyundai and Kia initially predicted a sales total of 7.54 million cars, eventually that became 6.35 million. That is the lowest number since 2010 when 5.74 million cars of the brands rolled out of the showroom worldwide.
Hyundai and Kia are not sitting still at all. The recently unveiled E-GMP platform forms the basis for the further development of EVs. The first result of this is the Ioniq 5, which will be unveiled in a few months. This new sub-brand is intended to more clearly shape Hyundai’s EV ambitions. Then follow the Ioniq 6 and 7; Ultimately, the Hyundai Motor Corporation wants to have as many as 20 models on this basis. Kia will introduce a different logo this year and can use the services of a new designer. All in all, more than enough to look forward to.
