Still well packed, but details can still be seen

It is no longer a secret that a sporty N variant of the Ioniq 5 is coming. Nevertheless, Hyundai prefers to keep the appearance of the sporty EV under the cap for a while. This heavily packed prototype is proof of that. Fortunately, Hyundai does not manage to hide everything, so that we can already see some unique details of the Ioniq 5 N.
The prototype in the previous spy photos looked a bit tame from the outside, apart from its large wheels and ditto brakes. This prototype seems to be much closer in design to the final Ioniq 5 N. At first glance, the large amount of camouflage may make you think that there is nothing to see, but look again and you will see that the front bumper is quite different from that of a standard Ioniq 5. The front bumper of the Ioniq 5 N lights up the bottom slightly further forward has much larger air intakes. As a result, the license plate is also slightly higher than with the regular model. There are even some extra slats above the license plate.

At the rear, the Ioniq 5 N is not exactly less intense. The first thing that stands out is the much larger roof spoiler, which has a fold down in the middle. Another distinguishing element of the Ioniq 5 N is the rear wiper, which the regular Ioniq 5 does not have. Whether that function is only reserved for the prototype or also makes an appearance on the final model – and perhaps the rest of the Ioniq range – will have to become clear when the Ioniq 5 N is unveiled. Further down, we see a modified rear bumper that is sportier than the one under the standard Ioniq 5. This is partly because the center of the rear bumper is slightly recessed in relation to the outer edges.
The introduction of the Ioniq 5 N is planned for next year. In terms of powertrain, we expect the N-Division’s first electric production model to have the same specifications as the Kia EV6 GT and the RN22e study, meaning it will deliver 585 hp and 740 Nm of power. The EV6 GT sprints to a speed of 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and tops out at 260 km/h, so that promises something for the Ioniq 5 N.
