Especially as a seven-seater
After the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 comes… Indeed: the Hyundai Ioniq 7. This will be a large electric SUV that will also come to the Netherlands and that we can now show you extensively from all angles in a packed test suit.
Those who regularly visit AutoWeek will undoubtedly know that we do not only pay attention to new or updated models that you can buy in the Netherlands. Hyundai cars have a considerable share in that message flow, after all, the brand has dozens of models in its international portfolio that you do not know in the Netherlands. In the past year we wrote about the Venue, the updated HB20(S), the Stargazer, the Grandeur, the Elantra, the Accent, the Sonata, the Mufasa and the Exster. Of course there is also relevant Hyundai news for the Dutch consumer. This time we have the Hyundai Ioniq 7 on offer in that category. That electric SUV that is also coming to the Netherlands has been caught in public in a test suit.
The Hyundai Ioniq 7 is the production version of the Hyundai Seven concept car that debuted simultaneously with the Kia Concept EV9 in 2021. The Concept EV9 has now led to the production-ready Kia EV9 and Hyundai’s Seven will therefore also have a descendant. The Hyundai Ioniq 7 will therefore be a sister model of the EV9, but that does not mean that it will have exactly the same powertrains as the Kia. After all, the specifications of the Ioniq 5 and 6 do not exactly match those of the Kia EV6. It is certain that the Ioniq 7 will be about 5 meters long electric SUV with up to three rows of seats and that it will be overloaded with stubborn design.
Where Hyundai has opted for strikingly angular shapes for the Ioniq 5 and 6, the Ioniq 7 seems to have a more rounded appearance. Just like the Seven study model, the Ioniq 7 gets stubborn lighting all around pixels as you can see on the Ioniq 5 and 6. In general, Hyundai seems to stick to the design of the Seven Concept. For example, the A-pillar that flows smoothly into the roof, the kink in the shoulder line and the high front with a large, wide cooling opening in it remain intact to a greater or lesser extent.
Hyundai does seem to give the production version a more conventional buttocks. The Seven’s mainly glass tailgate has to make way for a more conventional tailgate that consists of about half sheet metal. We expect the Hyundai Ioniq 7 on the Dutch market in 2024.
