Hyundai’s N division is hungry. The N lineup in the Netherlands already consists of the i30 N, i30 N Fastback and the i20 N will be added later this year. It does not stop there, the Hyundai Kona also gets a sporty N variant. Hyundai reports today that the unveiling of the Kona N will not be long in coming.
Crossovers are now available in almost every segment and that means that more and more sporty high-legged animals are slowly coming in. Although the range of trained crossovers is not yet that large, Hyundai is eager to enter the battlefield with a sporty variant of the Kona, the Kona N. The brand now officially releases which power source will be in the nose of the Kona N spooned.
The Hyundai Kona N gets a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine as the power plant, a petrol engine that works together with an eight-speed DCT transmission that Hyundai’s N division has also been involved in. Hyundai is still keeping a secret how powerful the 2.0 is. In the recently renewed i30’s N, the 2.0 is already good for 250 hp, although there is also a whopping 280 hp version that is supplied in the Performance versions of the i30’s N. If the Kona N does indeed become 250 to 280 hp powerful, then the car nestles perfectly between the 200 hp Ford Puma ST and larger 300 hp crossovers from the Volkswagen Group such as the Audi SQ2 and Volkswagen T-Roc R. Sprintjes pulling with the Kona N promises to be a spectacle in any case thanks to the presence of Launch Controlmet. The Kona N, unlike the i30 N, does not seem to get a manual option.

Hyundai promises to release more about the new Kona N within a few weeks. Techzle is betting on a reveal in mid-February. Will the Kona N soon be the only high-legged Hyundai of which a greedy N variant exists? No, it is said that the new Tucson will also get a sporty N-flavor!
