Hyundai outlines new compact crossover

Bayon. That’s the name of a brand new Hyundai compact crossover. The model name of that newcomer had already been released by Hyundai, but images that give a nice impression of the model are not yet available. Until today!

Crossovers and SUVs, as a car manufacturer you cannot have enough of them on the menu. Hyundai is expanding its crossover offering very soon with a completely new model for the brand: the Bayon. The Bayon will be Hyundai’s fifth and smallest crossover, so the compact high-legged one will be positioned below the Kona. Hyundai now gives a first decent impression of the upcoming newcomer by means of a set of design sketches.

Hyundai Bayon

Anyone who has the Kona and the new i20, Tucson and Santa Fe on their retina knows that Hyundai has taken a more pronounced path in terms of design than a few years ago. The Bayon also promises to be a stubborn model. We see a car that, like the other crossovers and SUVs from Hyundai, has an eccentric muzzle with thin LED daytime running lights. The actual headlamps are located one floor down on the Bayon front. The lighting at the back is even more interesting if possible. Hyundai apparently gives the Bayon an extremely angular rear in which the vertically oriented and almost boomerang-like lamps are connected by means of a thin LED strip.

The Bayon is a crossover specially designed for the European market with a name that should emphasize that. The newcomer is therefore named after a city located in the southwest of France: Bayonne. It is not entirely inconceivable that Hyundai will bring a version of the Venue delivered in the United States, both optically and technically, to our continent for the European market. With its length of 4 meters, the Venue is about 20 centimeters smaller than the Kona. Another compact crossover that Hyundai sells outside the Dutch borders is the also called Creta ix25. With its 4.3 meters length, this model is a less obvious candidate.
