Hyundai prepares Elantra N.

Hyundai has a taste for it with its sporty N-division. The next victim is the brand new Elantra, which is clearly covered with the N sauce despite the camouflage in these new photos.

Half a year ago, Hyundai pulled the curtain off the brand-new Elantra. A car with a name that is familiar to us; After all, we had an Elantra here in the past. Nowadays, however, the Elantra is a stranger here, because we have had to do without that model for about 15 years. However, in the United States, among others, it is still a successful weapon for Hyundai in the fight against cars like the Toyota Corolla Sedan and Honda Civic. The latter is of course also available as a sporty Type R and that is where Hyundai is probably aiming its arrows with this Elantra N.

Although the whole is packed tightly, the large rear spoiler, thick chutes and sporty wheels clearly show that it is the most potent Elantra. Despite its distant destination, it has German license plates and also drives around our eastern neighbors, as Hyundai N develops the sporty versions on and around the Nürburgring.

It is still a bit of a coffee, but we expect that the car will do the trick to a large extent from the i30 N that is available with us. In that case, count on a blown 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with an output of roughly 275 hp. That is also the least to be able to face the Honda Civic Type R somewhat, Hyundai may screw up the block in the Elantra N above 300 hp. It will no longer surprise you, but we should not expect the Elantra N here.
