Hyundai is adding a brand new model to its range. Meet the Hyundai Stargazer, an MPV with six or seven seats and a quirky packaging. You may already feel the mood: the Stargazer is not coming to the Netherlands.

Hyundai’s international delivery range includes an extensive range of interesting models that you cannot buy in the Netherlands. What about the jolly Casper and Veloster, the Palisade, or the eccentric space giant Staria. That Staria is not the only MPV-like that Hyundai does not bring to the Netherlands. For example, the brand has developed especially for the Chinese market the Custo developed and with this brand new Stargazer, Hyundai specifically bombards the car market in Indonesia with a brand new practical space miracle.

The Stargazer is not as large as the 5.25 meter long Staria or 4.95 meter long Custo. The Stargazer is a relatively compact space wonder that, although with a vehicle length of 4.46 meters it is practically as long as a Peugeot 3008, it still has three rows of seats and therefore offers space for up to seven occupants. The Stargazer has been drawn entirely in accordance with Hyundai’s current design philosophy and so this MPV also has a stubborn body, with exuberant lighting at both the front and rear. Just like the Staria, the Stargazer has an LED strip running over the entire width of the front. The visually linked taillights are somewhat reminiscent of those of the Bayon.

Under the Stargazer is the K2 platform from Hyundai and Kia, the basis that you will also find under the i20 (Kia Rio) and many other models from both brands. Under the hood is a 1.5 that sends 115 hp and 144 Nm to the front wheels via a manual six-speed gearbox or via a CVT transmission. The Stargazer does not have to rely on its sporting performance, after all, it is an MPV. Spacious is Hyundai’s latest in any case. Behind the second row of seats you can lose 585 liters of luggage, although only 200 liters of it remain intact behind the third row of seats. Hyundai also offers an option for a six-seater instead of a seven-seater. In that case, you get two more spacious seats in the second row of seats.

In Indonesia, the Hyundai Stargazer has a starting price of about €16,100. The Korean has to cross swords with comparable MPVs such as the Mitsubishi Xpander, Daihatsu Xenia and Toyota Avanza/Veloz. Safety systems such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (a mouthful) are available at an additional cost. A 4.2-inch digital instrumentation and an 8-inch infotainment screen are also available in the Stargazer.
