Hyundai has made a model year update on the Veloster in the United States. The regular versions of the stubborn hatchback remain untouched, but the crazy Veloster N will be tackled!
A small part of the Techzle editors wept with tears when Hyundai presented a brand new generation Veloster in 2018, but kept that car far away from the European and therefore Dutch market. A painful decision, especially when you consider that Hyundai of the asymmetrical hatchback immediately presented a crazy N version. That Veloster N immediately got the 270 hp and 352 Nm strong variant of the blown 2.0 that we already knew from the i30 N with Performance Pack. Hyundai is now implementing a model year update on the Veloster, focusing specifically on the Veloster N.
Not a single modification for the regular Veloster, but for the powerful Veloster N. While the 2.0 of the laughing gas-fueled Veloster N was previously coupled to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, the revised version is available with a new automatic transmission. The six-speed automatic is replaced by a copy with eight gears with double clutch. That automatic, which can also be commanded by tapping the selector lever and via flippers behind the steering wheel, comes hand in hand with three interesting modes: N Grin Shift, N Power Shift and N Track Sense Shift. The first is an overboost mode, where the maximum torque increases by 7 percent to 376 Nm for up to twenty seconds, while the Veloster N in N Power Shift accelerates at the right times for more rapid acceleration when the accelerator pedal is pressed more than 90 percent. . In this mode, a sprint from a standstill to a speed of 97 km / h (60 mph) takes just 5.6 beats. With the manual six-speed gearbox, you will lose 5.8 seconds for that sprint. More news? Yes! Hyundai now installs new sports seats in the Veloster N. They are each 2 kilos lighter than the previous ones.
So minor adjustments, but novelties that make the crazy Veloster N in Europe an even sweeter forbidden fruit.
