Hello,
I work in a cafeteria where it is constantly between 27° and 29°C (regularly more). As a result, I am very thirsty in a day and therefore drink something regularly.
When it’s really hot (eg in the kitchen/dishwasher) and I drink, it often happens that the water suddenly runs off my back. Wouldn’t it be better to wait before drinking? I’m always thirsty afterwards…
Also, when I get home, I EASILY drink another pint of spa fizz. Did I drink this too little during the day?
I also like to drink my drink ice cold (to be taken literally), is this bad?
Answer
Best,
It is important to drink a lot, especially in this situation (water must be replenished, so to speak). Normally a person needs up to 2.5 liters of water per day. 1 liter comes from the normal foods and 1.5 liters you have to drink. This is preferably water. You lose a lot more water, so you need to drink more.
The feeling of thirst is efficient and indicates that your body needs extra water. In this regard, listen to your body.
It is best to spread the water intake over the entire day, although there will of course be peak times (with a lot of sweating). It is normal that you also need water in the evening.
It is best to drink water cool, but not ice cold. Drinking it ice cold causes small capillaries to contract and sometimes you get some discomfort (just think of the headache if you eat a cold ice cream very quickly). Moreover, you will respond to this by sweating a little more. So drink your water cool, not ice cold.
Besides, did you know that water has a taste. Every water tastes different. You absolutely do not taste this when it comes to ice-cold water, but you do when it comes to ordinary slightly cooled water.
