IKEA's new Kreativ app lets you virtually empty your home

The Swedish furniture giant IKEA has developed an app to empty your house. Kreativ ensures that your furniture virtually disappears from the room, after which you can virtually place new furniture in it. Ideal if you want to completely change your interior.

For example, if you already have a lot of IKEA furniture and you want to know how it will look if you arrange it differently, you can use the Kreativ app. But even if you are about to purchase a new piece of furniture and you want to check whether it really looks good, this app very handy.

Everyone knows that it is a big challenge to buy a sofa, for example: is it not a bit too big, does it show nicely, is it too high or too low? These are all things that you can hardly estimate from a single glance in the showroom. Sometimes even measuring is not enough to make the estimate. An app like Kreativ can help you with that.

It works like this: you first take a series of photos of your interior and then Kreativ erases everything. Sounds familiar: it’s exactly what the Google Pixel 6 can do with its magic eraser: remove certain objects from a photo. The software makes an estimate of what the background will look like and on that basis it erases an object. Kreativ also works the same way, so your wallpaper may look slightly different, but in the end that’s not what it’s all about.

There is still one drawback to the app: it is currently only available in the United States on iOS and on the computer. However, it seems to be coming to Android soon. Kreativ will appear in other countries sometime in the second half of this year or the first half of next year.

What do you think of such a magic eraser and would you also use the IKEA Kreativ app? Leave your comment on this article.
