In the Wild: Ferrari 250 GT / E

A Ferrari from the 60s is a car that we mainly see in front of us in the sun, on the tightly cut grass of a highly regarded concours d’elegance. The owner of this car apparently thinks a rainy roundabout in South Holland is also good enough.

It is Monday morning, it is raining and it really is one of those days when daylight only reaches 70 percent of what is possible. Although you can only half perceive it thanks to a still sleepy head, the radio voice in the background tells you that it will remain rainy all week. Corona ensures that it is not very busy on the road, but the queue for the roundabout to the highway is still okay. Although you have now come to a complete standstill, the rain sensor of your addition-friendly lease crossover decides to take it a step further. If only it were April again …

But wait, what’s driving there? Under these circumstances, a classic is by definition a special feature, but this is not a Volvo Amazon or a rusty Chevrolet. No, something really beautiful drives here. Something Italian. An Alpha? No, a Ferrari! To be precise a Ferrari 250 GT / E, a fantastic 2 + 2 on the Ferrari 250 theme. Such a GT / E is certainly not as valuable as the illustrious SWB-250s (you still write the current value here with six digits), but such a car is still a unique appearance under these circumstances.

The four-seater Ferrari with V12 is one of the fixed values in the Ferrari range and is currently performed by the GTC4 Lusso V12. In fact, the bloodline of that Lusso goes back to this 250 GT / E, as this was the first four-seater from Ferrari to be produced in any numbers. About 1,000 were built between 1959 and 1963 – the year of manufacture of this car. This car has been driving around the Netherlands since 2005. As far as can be seen in the photos, the car is in absolute mint condition. That’s how it should be, of course, even if you just drive the car.
