Fortunately, classic Jaguars XJ brighten up the Dutch street scene regularly. However, the coupé versions are a lot rarer. It is therefore high time to put this red copy in the limelight.
Especially for the Jaguar XJ Series I to III there is a huge fan base in the Netherlands. These ancient XJs are still regularly appearing on public roads and the trade in them is still lively. At the same time, it is also the XJs who demand the most love from their owner, because they are not exactly from the best period of the British car industry. Fortunately, the appearance makes up for it and that certainly applies to this XJ Coupé (XJ-C) from 1977. As a two-door (which was only of the Series II), the already successful design of the XJ may have been even better.
As a former XJ owner and Techzle Classics man, colleague Michiel Willebrands of course had to take a few photos when he came across this apparition. The XJ Coupé simply camped in a public parking lot, with some subtle traces of everyday use. The fact that this Jaguar LPG (LPG) pleases seems a clear sign that this is still the necessary mileage. Of course, with a 4.2-liter six-in-line and thick 1,700 kilos, it will not hurt the wallet to drive on gas.
Apparently the current owner likes it in any case. This XJ has been with him / her since 2007. Incidentally, this copy was only on Dutch registration four years earlier. Yet another welcome addition to the Dutch street scene for 17 years and hopefully for many years to come. If we look at the value of a ready-to-use XJ Coupé, soon more than € 30,000, this classic will not quickly disappear from the face of the earth.
