Tesla and potential big players like Lucid Motors will soon no longer be the only big names when it comes to American manufacturers of electric cars when it comes to start-up Indi EV. Indi EV introduces the One to us, an electric car with which it has the TikTokkende, young hip car buyer in its sights.
Tesla is currently by far the largest American manufacturer of electric cars. Lucid Motors has the ambition to at least approach Tesla some success and then there are plenty of smaller EV manufacturers like Karma and Fisker. Indi EV now joins that last row, a start-up based in California that has completed its first electric prototype in the form of the One.
The 4.8 meter long One is a light crossover style electric hatchback. The five-seater has a 95 kWh battery pack in the bottom. The unspecified electric motor takes the One to a speed of 60 mph (97 km/h) in 5.5 seconds and should be able to help the car reach a top speed of 209 km/h. The four-wheel drive EV weighs 2.5 tons and should be able to reach a range of about 525 kilometers.
The relatively minimalistic designed interior consists of a small screen behind the steering wheel on which, among other things, the speed is displayed. There are also two 15-inch large displays on the dashboard of which the left copy functions as a multimedia screen and the right copy is intended for the co-driver.
Indi EV is aiming for a starting price of just under €39,000 for the One. Why would you, as an American, not buy a Model 3 or Y but a One? Indi EV seems to target a young audience with its One. For example, the One has a ‘supercomputer’ on board on which you should be able to play games and stream your game sessions without effort. In addition, the car is equipped with cameras that can send your images taken while driving straight into the world where likes, pluses, minuses and thumbs are the currency.
It is not yet known when the One in production form will be presented.
