Infiniti has a new QX60 in the development chambers, a three-row SUV first snapped publicly in camouflage trim. However, the new seven-seater will never get Western European asphalt under its wheels via official channels.
At the end of September, Infiniti introduced the QX60 Monograph to the world, a study model with which the brand anticipated a completely new generation of QX60. Infiniti places the designation ‘Monograph’ on study models that are almost ready for production, so it is no big mystery what exactly is hidden under the camouflage stickers of this snapped test model.
That does not mean that the QX60 Monograph will go into production one on one. The door handles recessed in the doors that could be seen on that study model should, apparently, be cleared of the field. The production version that can be seen in these spy photos also seems to do with a less pronounced hip part. It is also striking that the side mirrors move down one floor and are housed on the sheet metal of the doors on the production version.
Infiniti Q60 Monograph
The QX60, which has three rows of seats, is the bigger brother of the QX50, which has four to five seats. The Infiniti QX80 also offers three rows of seats, but the colossus related to the Nissan Patrol is of a completely different order. Model name QX60 sounds completely unknown in Europe, but the model has been around for a while. The first QX60 entered the US market in 2012 as JX35, but was soon renamed QX60. The model, which is still in American showrooms, uses an extended version of the platform that Nissan used under the penultimate Murano. The new QX60 probably shares much of its engineering with the already mentioned QX50. The QX60 should go on sale in the United States early next year. Once on the market, the QX60 has to compete with the Lexus RX and the Lincoln Nautilus, among others.
