Infiniti will be pulling the curtain off a completely new SUV later this year. It concerns the new QX60, the big brother of the QX50 that the brand can use well from a sales point of view. The QX60 has now been sent out into the world in a camouflage suit.
The QX60 that the American consumer can currently order from Infiniti dealers has been in showrooms since 2012. That SUV, a competitor of the Lexus RX, could use some fresh blood. Infiniti will present the new QX60 in its entirety later this year, but is now already releasing photos and information about the SUV.
In fact, you should see the Infiniti QX60 as the big brother of the QX50. Where the latter is a five-seater, the QX60 can accommodate up to seven people thanks to a third row of seats. The new series of photos confirms that it is clearly inspired by the QX60 Monograph, the concept car that hit the podium in September 2020. Infiniti now reports that it is filling the QX60 with ProPilot Assist, among other things, with which the SUV, like the Nissan Qashqai, is able to drive semi-autonomously on the highway to a certain extent. That the current QX60 is aging, is evident from the fact that Infiniti proudly reports that the newcomer will receive road sign recognition and a head-up display. The traffic sign recognition is linked to, among other things, the cruise control, which means that the car can automatically adjust its speed to the applicable speed limit.
The QX60 gets a 300 hp 3.5 V6 under the hood, which is linked to a new Infiniti automatic transmission with nine gears. He shares the platform and most of his technology with his smaller brother, the QX50. The QX60 will of course not come to the Netherlands, as Infiniti is no longer active in Western Europe.
