Apple has released a new iPhone update. iOS 14.7 is now available for download and should, among other things, fix the battery problems caused by the previous version. This is how you install the update on your iPhone.
Download iOS 14.7: this is how you install the new iPhone update
If your iPhone supports iOS 14, you can also download and install version 14.7. Among other things, the latest update improves the security of your device, so we recommend installing it as soon as possible. This is how you do it:
- Make sure your iPhone battery is at least 50 percent full, and hang it on the charger;
- Go to the Settings app and tap “General”;
- Choose ‘Software update’ in this menu and let your iPhone (or iPad) search for the latest update;
- Found it? Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the update.
Does the new update not appear on the screen? Then there is nothing to do but wait. Just after the release of a new update, many people want to download the software and so digital queues arise. Try again later to avoid the queue.
Also important: back up your iPhone beforehand. In most cases, the download of iOS 14.7 goes without problems, but if it unexpectedly goes less smoothly, you will at least not lose any important data. In this video we explain how to make an iPhone backup:
This is all new in iOS 14.7
iOS 14.7 is a small but important update. The version fixes the battery problems of its predecessor. iOS 14.6 caused some iPhone batteries to drain much faster than usual. The update is also necessary if you want to use the MagSafe Battery Pack.
Do you have a HomePod, or HomePod mini? Then you can turn on timers from iOS 14.7 via the Home app on your iPhone. That’s nice, because with this you can turn on a timer if you are not in the same room as your smart speaker.
Furthermore, iOS 14.7 adds small (security) improvements and the Weather and Maps app gets a nice addition. From now on you can view the air quality in Dutch cities. Read more in our overview of all the new features in iOS 14.7.
