Apple releases iOS 17.3 beta 3
Apple has released iOS 17.3 beta 3! The new test version mainly contains bug fixes that emerged with iOS 17 beta 2. Many users had difficulty installing the second test version of iOS 17. During the installation process, iPhones froze and some devices even ended up in an endless reboot loop.

This problem seemed to mainly occur on iPhones with the Back Tap feature enabled. Apple therefore quickly withdrew iOS 17.3 beta 2, so the update could no longer be downloaded. Now a new test version has been released for your iPhone. With iOS 17.3, a useful new feature becomes available that makes your iPhone much more secure. This is new in the update.
iPhone will soon be much more secure
‘Stolen Device Protection‘ comes to your iPhone for the first time with iOS 17.3. The feature, known as ‘Stolen Device Protection’, adds an extra layer of security to your iPhone. If the device is not near known locations, Face ID or Touch ID is required to access certain data. This is especially useful if the thief knows your passcode, which is now no longer enough for full access to your iPhone.
Your private data will soon be better secured with Face ID or Touch ID, so that it cannot simply be changed if your iPhone is stolen. This is not necessary at known locations, such as your home or work location. Are you in a different place? Then security data cannot be changed without Face ID or Touch ID. This is only possible again in iOS 17.3 one hour after verification via Face ID or Touch ID.

With the latest update, your iPhone is much better protected against thieves. As of iOS 17.3, the new feature can be found in the settings of your iPhone under ‘Face ID and passcode > Stolen device protection’. Starting today, iOS 17.3 beta 3 can be installed for developers and for anyone who has signed up for Apple’s testing program.

We will have to wait a little longer for the final version of iOS 17.3, which will only be released in a few weeks. Last year, iOS 16.3 became available at the end of January, iOS 17.3 will be released around the same time. So for now we have to make do with the features in iOS 17.3 beta 3.
