New test version for the iPhone
Apple has released beta 4 of iOS 17.4. It was already known that the update will bring enormous changes to your iPhone, because it will soon be possible to install apps that are not in the App Store. Apple’s NFC chip will also be opened to third parties, allowing you to pay in multiple ways with your iPhone. Major changes, which are the result of new European regulations.

In iOS 17.4 beta 4 we see fewer major changes than in previous test versions. Apple mainly implements minor improvements and bug fixes. This means that we probably won’t have to wait much longer for the final version of the update. This beta mainly improves existing functions, but that does not mean that we will not see any new features at all. This is new!
iOS 17.4 beta 4: minor adjustments
Do you want to check whether the battery of your iPhone is still in good condition? This is much easier in the latest iOS version. A useful adjustment in iOS 17.4 beta 4 can be found in the settings of your iPhone. Under ‘Settings > Battery > Battery condition and charging’ you can see how often your iPhone has been charged and what the battery condition is in the new update. This is an important indication of the condition of your battery and whether it needs to be replaced.
In addition, CarPlay received a minor update in iOS 17.4 beta 4. CarPlay already had support for the smaller screen in a car, which also displays the speed. With CarPlay, Apple’s Maps are also shown there. This is made even clearer in the latest iOS version, because you will also see upcoming directions on the second screen in the car. So you no longer have to look at the larger screen in the center of the vehicle.
Release of iOS 17.4
Apple has released iOS 17.4 beta 4 for developers, the final version will have to wait a while. The official release won’t take long, because Apple has to adhere to the European Union’s deadline. The new legislation will soon come into effect, which states that users must also be able to download apps outside the App Store.

Apple therefore has until March 6, 2024 to release the update, when the new regulations will be officially introduced by the EU. It is already known that Apple is implementing all mandatory changes in iOS 17.4 (and iPadOS 17.4), meaning that the new software versions will be released before March 6. So just be patient, because huge changes are coming to your iPhone soon.
