A new beta 2 for the iPhone has been released. But what exactly is new? We tell you what you need to know about iOS 18.3 beta 2.

There is not much new to be found in the new beta. But Apple did bring back a feature that was missing in iOS 18. The missing feature had to do with the calculator app.
In an older version of iOS, if you performed a calculation in the Calculator app and tapped the equals sign, you got the answer. If you then pressed the ‘is’ button again, the app repeated the same calculation. This feature was gone in iOS 18. Now the feature is back in iOS 18 beta 2.
Furthermore, the beta fixes a number of software issues and bugs. But besides that, there are no noticeable changes.
Install iOS 18.3 beta 2
You cannot simply install the public beta. Would you like to try out iOS 18.3 beta 2 on your iPhone? That is possible, but you have to do something first.
- Open the ‘Settings’ on your iPhone;
- Go to ‘General’;
- Tap ‘Software Update’;
- Under ‘Beta updates’, select ‘iOS 18 Public Beta’;
- Tap ‘Back’ and the update will appear;
- Install the update like any other update.

iOS 18.3 is expected to be released sometime in late January. Typically, Apple follows the same timeline for releasing updates. In 2024, iOS 17.3 was released on January 22, iOS 16.3 was released on January 23, 2023, and iOS 15.3 was released on January 26, 2022. So around this time, everyone will probably be able to install iOS 18.3.
It is not expected that Apple Intelligence will come to the Netherlands and Belgium with iOS 18.3. That won’t happen until April. This will probably only be with iOS 18.4.
