With this airline you now get YouTube Premium for free. But is it also available in the Netherlands?
With this airline you get YouTube Premium for free
During a long flight you just have to enjoy yourself. Fortunately, almost all aircraft have films, series and games on offer during long flights. But you also really get tired of that in the long run.
An airline will soon also allow you to watch YouTube Premium for free while you’re on your way to your next destination. Nice, right? And to get straight to the point: currently you only get free YouTube Premium if you fly with Delta.
Airline companies such as KLM currently have no plans to introduce this. However, it could well be that other airlines will also eventually offer this. We certainly hope so.
YouTube Premium during flights: this is how it works
The feature is only available to Delta SkyMiles members. This is a free service that allows you to earn points for flights. You can compare it a bit with KLM’s Flying Blue. Delta SkyMiles members must log into their account, which then provides access to commercial-free YouTube viewing during the flight.
Delta passengers will certainly be able to rub their hands in the future, because the planes will be equipped with new screens in the seats. 4K HDR QLED screens will be installed from 2026. There will also be an option to connect your earbuds such as AirPods via Bluetooth.
YouTube Premium: That’s how much it costs
To always watch YouTube without commercials, you have to spend a lot of money. A subscription for one person costs 13.99 euros in the Netherlands. For an entire family you even have to pay 25.99 euros. If you take out a subscription via the YouTube app on your iPhone, you pay even more because of the commissions that Apple charges. Therefore, always try to take out the subscription via your Mac or PC.
