iPads and Macs are still poorly available for the time being

In 2022, tech giants will continue to suffer from chip shortages. In the second quarter of this year, Apple is already struggling to meet demand for iPads and Macs due to supply constraints. In the third quarter, that problem will get even worse.

Delivery Restrictions Apple

Many countries have returned to the ‘old normal’, but some countries are still dealing with corona restrictions. This is certainly the case in China, where Apple has its most important factories.

Luca Maestri – Apple’s financial chief – says that the corona restrictions in China and the chip shortages make it difficult to produce enough devices. It would be difficult to meet the demand.

In the third quarter of 2022, that problem will only get worse. The supply restrictions are estimated to cost Apple $4 to $8 billion, depending on when suppliers in China can resume operations. According to Tim Cook, the delivery problems are mainly in Shanghai. And although almost all factories there have reopened, it will take a while before production is back up to full speed.

Especially with MacBook Pro and iPad

Especially iPads and the MacBook Pro models are currently affected by the delivery problems. Cook expects that this will also have an effect on other product categories, so the iPhone may also be less available in the future.

The delivery times are the longest for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro 2021. If you order it today from Apple, it will only be delivered to you somewhere between 23 and 7 July, or the MacBook can be picked up at the Apple Store. The delivery time for the iPads is about two weeks.

At stores other than Apple you often have the iPad at home faster. Do you want to know where? Check it out in the iPad price comparator.
