USB-C iPhone: Is the Time Finally Here?
In a tweet, Ming-Chi Kuo brought out a rumor that we have been waiting for a long time; a USB-C connection to an iPhone. Apple has equipped its smartphones with a Lightning connection since 2012, ‘the connection for the next ten years’. We previously wrote an article about the future of this cable.
All Android manufacturers have been equipping their smartphones with usb-c for a long time. The iPad and MacBook also receive their power via this connection. The iPhone is the only one left behind. Super clumsy, but this seems to be about to change.
When? According to Kuo, we have to wait a little longer. Earlier this year we heard rumors that the iPhone 14 will get a USB-C connection. This is unfortunately not the case. The iPhone 15, which (if everything goes according to the standard Apple schedule) will be launched in September 2023, would get a USB-C connector.
Why is Apple (only) switching to USB-C now?
The EU has been legislating for a long time to provide all devices with one type of charger. This is all in the context of climate change and sustainability. How handy would it be if we could power everything with one cable. Earlier there were rumors that Apple was working on devices without ports. This is an alternative way to reduce waste from electronic equipment
So the most obvious reason for usb-c is its universality. Charging via USB-C has even more advantages! A higher amount of current can pass through this connection than with a Lightning plug. This also allows your iPhone to charge and transfer data at high speeds.
