Apple has announced iOS 26, but not all new functions for the iPhone have yet been revealed. Apple only presents these features later!
iOS 26
At the beginning of June, Apple announced the most important software updates of 2025. Instead of iOS 19, iOS 26 is coming to the iPhone this year. The biggest change in iOS 26 is the new design, in which Apple Liquid introduces Glass. Almost all applications, the home screen and the control panel look different. That is by no means everything, because iOS 26 brings many new functions to the iPhone.
Applications such as messages, wallet, telephone and Apple Music get more features in iOS 26. CarPlay is also being improved and gets a new interface. In the meantime, Apple has already announced many changes for the iPhone, but not all the functions of iOS 26 have yet been revealed. Are you curious about which features Apple has said nothing yet? 1. Translate live for the AirPods
According to the generally reliable Apple connoisseur Mark Gurman, Apple Bring Live Brings with a later iOS 26 update to the AirPods. With live translation, speaking text – as the name suggests – is translated into another language. This happens almost immediately, making it much easier to understand a conversation in a foreign language. Translating by the AirPods is done almost immediately, so that you no longer need another translation app.
Apple has, however, made announcements about live translation into iOS 26. In the new software version, live translations are extended into messages, Facetime and telephone. In these applications, spoken text can be translated into another language. It is therefore expected that Apple will also bring this function to the AirPods later, that will probably happen with iOS 26.2 or later.
2. Connect with public WiFi
Are you on the road a lot and do you regularly connect with public WiFi networks? In that case you will get a handy function with a later version of iOS 26. When logging in to public networks you often have to enter certain information, such as an email address, room number or name. You must enter this data on your iPhone, iPad and Mac (book) again and again to access a public network.
That will change with iOS 26, because it is enough to fill this information on one of your Apple devices. Other devices then remember this network, so that you do not have to log in again and again. This function of iOS 26 makes the use of public WiFi networks much easier and more accessible. In hotels, restaurants and other places you can connect to the WiFi network faster on all your Apple devices.
Release of iOS 26
According to Gurman, Apple has been working on these functions for some time, but they are not ready for the release of iOS 26 on time. Apple probably does not want to run any risks and no longer announces features if they are not ready yet. With the WWDC 2024, the company did that, so users had to wait too long for all changes. For example, Apple Intelligence is still not available in the Netherlands and Belgium more than a year after the announcement.
We have to wait a little longer for functions such as live translating at the AirPods and connecting faster with public WiFi networks. The release of iOS 26 is slowly coming, because Apple is already releasing the update in September. That month the most important software versions of 2025 appear.
