The iPhone 16 Pro will get a new type of OLED display, which will be much better than what we see on the iPhone 15. Here are the improvements you can expect!
New screen on the iPhone 16 Pro
Apple is releasing the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max this year, which will reportedly feature an all-new display. These are rumored to be the first iPhones to feature Samsung’s M14 OLED display. The company has produced M displays for high-end phones before, but it has never released an M14 display. The iPhone 16 Pro (Max) will be the first device to feature this OLED display.

The new type of OLED screen brings several advantages to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The new display is said to last much longer, which means that the quality of the screen deteriorates less quickly. That’s not all, because the new OLED screens are much brighter. With the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) you will no longer have any problems reading the screen in different conditions.
Benefits of new oled display
According to previous rumors, the iPhone 16 Pro will have a peak brightness of 1200 nits with SDR images. That is 20 percent more than with the current iPhones. It is quite possible that this improvement is due to Samsung’s new OLED screen. With HDR, no changes are expected in the peak brightness, which remains the same at 1600 nits. In bright sunlight, that brightness is even higher at 2000 nits.
The new OLED screen prevents you from not being able to read the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) properly due to (too) bright light. With HDR content, the peak brightness was already very high, but Apple has now also improved the brightness for images that still work with SDR. It is expected that these changes will only come to the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. No improvements are expected to the screen for the ‘normal’ iPhone 16.
iPhone 16 Pro (Max) gets larger screen
Apple is adjusting the dimensions of the displays for the first time in years with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro gets a 6.3-inch OLED screen, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max even increasing to 6.9 inches. This makes the iPhone 16 Pro Max the largest iPhone that Apple has ever made. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus retain the same dimensions as the iPhone 15 (Plus).
We still have to wait a little longer for the new phones, because Apple is not releasing the iPhone 16 until September.
