The iPhone 16 is coming out on Monday, September 9, and rumor has it that the Pro models will not only get new features, but also more storage!
This is how much storage space the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) gets
The iPhone 16 will again get all kinds of new functions. For example, all models will get an action button, which we know from the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). In addition, the iPhone 16 models will get a new button, called the capture button, specifically for camera functions. You can use it to focus the camera, zoom in and out, and take photos or videos.
And if you take a lot of photos and video, you’ll want a lot of storage. Apple says 128GB is plenty for the average user, but it looks like the minimum storage you can choose with the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) will be considerably larger. Here’s what you can expect:
- 256 GB
- 512 GB
- 1 TB
- 2TB
A double minimum amount of storage space
There are rumors that Apple is working on an iPhone with 2TB of storage space and that seems to be the case with the iPhone 16 Pro (Max). We don’t know for sure yet, because similar rumors appear almost every year. There are also rumors that the versions with a large storage capacity have a lower read and write speed. Apple would choose to do this to save costs.
It is also not yet clear whether the new 256GB model will be an addition to the existing models, or whether it will replace the iPhone Pro (Max) with 128GB of storage. It is quite possible that four versions of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) will be released. In that case, the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) with 256GB will be the entry-level model.
iPhone 16 (Plus) Storage Space
We haven’t really heard any specific rumors about this yet. We therefore expect the storage options for the iPhone 16 (Plus) to remain the same as those of the iPhone 15 (Plus). Here’s what that means:
- 128 GB
- 256 GB
- 512 GB
There may still be a 1TB version, but that is not very likely. As mentioned, Apple believes that 128GB of storage is sufficient for the average user and we do not expect the company to have changed its mind. Fortunately, we do not have to wonder much longer, because during the Apple event this will become clear on September 9.
Amount of working memory
In addition to the amount of storage, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus also get more RAM. This is necessary to work well with Apple Intelligencewhich will also be available on all iPhone 16 models. The iPhone 15 (Plus) still had 6 GB of RAM, the models of the iPhone 16 series will all get 8 GB.
