The OLED screen of Apple’s high-end smartphone consumes less power if you change the white of the background to black. This display mode is activated in a few steps.
The iPhone X has a superb OLED screen, but also a specific display mode, called Dark Mode, where certain colors are inverted. In particular, white becomes black and vice versa. This is particularly useful if you want to save battery because the pixels are off when the background is black. In addition, a dark display can also be used not to disturb neighbors in certain places, for example at the cinema. Here’s how to put it into action.
1 – Activate the inverted display
Tap the Settings icon on the Home screen, then tap General and Accessibility. Tap on Adapt display, then on Invert colors. Activate the switch Smart reversal.

The iPhone X then switches to intelligent Dark Mode which retains the original colors of the images and switches the system interface to black.

However, some applications (eg Snapchat) are not compatible with this type of display. You must then deactivate Dark Mode to display them correctly. Note that this mode is also available on other iPhones with iOS 11 but it is more interesting on the OLED screen of the iPhone X because the black pixels do not consume battery.
2 – Create a shortcut
Reverse display mode can be turned on and off easily by creating a shortcut. Return to the section General / Accessibility settings and scroll down. Tap on Accessibility shortcut and check the line corresponding to Intelligent color inversion.

Then just triple press the side button on iPhone X to bring up a menu and select the device’s Dark Mode.
