There is no GSi or OPC version of the current Opel Corsa, so Opel’s smallest GS Line version is the sportiest Corsa you can order. The Opel adepts of Irmscher show what in theory is possible with the Corsa.
It seems very likely that Opel will eventually add a sporty OPC-like variant to the delivery range of the Corsa, a sporty version that may be based on the electric Corsa-e. How all that gets hands and feet remains to be seen and that means that – besides the GS Line version – there is no really sporty version of the Corsa. Unfortunately, the creation of the German Irmscher that you see in these images does not change that. But, you can always dream.
The very elaborately decorated Corsa in these two images listens to the name Opel Corsa iRC. It is still a design study, so don’t head straight for Remshalden in Germany, where Irmscher is located. According to the stubborn company, the design of the Irmscher Opel Corsa iRC was inspired by cracked noses developed for the World Rally Championship (WRC). When we see the Corsa iRC like this, we take the Germans at their word.
Irmscher Opel Corsa iRC
The Irmscher Opel Corsa iRC stares at you as if it would rather devour your soul and those of your immediate loved ones yesterday. Irmscher gives the Corsa iRC not only exuberant bumpers with huge grilles, but even a full widebody. Both the front and rear screens have been extensively expanded and the whole thing is decorated all around with spoilers, lips and edges that pale against the ironing board that hangs at the top of the back. The rear bumper has been digitally embellished with a diffuser with a wide, angular exhaust tailpipe in the middle. The fact that there is an exhaust under the Corsa iRC naturally indicates that Irmscher prefers to see a sporty Corsa variant with an internal combustion engine.
Will Irmscher actually build the Corsa iRC? We doubt it, although the company says it has not yet made a decision. In addition, Irmscher indicates that he is working on a power upgrade that will lift the muscle power of the Corsa with 130 hp 1.2 petrol engine towards 200 hp. At the moment you can already turn to Irmscher for a module that boosts the power of that machine to 151 hp.
