I once brewed coffee with “distilled” water for a while. According to the pharmacist, this could be harmful to the body in the long term. Is this true? Water is water, isn’t it?
Answer
Dear Guido,
Drinking distilled water is indeed not healthy because this water (almost) no longer contains ions and this is osmotically bad for the body. It is best to use tap water to make coffee. This is excellent for your body; maybe not so good for the coffee maker, but this problem can be solved perfectly by regularly descaling the coffee maker.
