Is it true that acid is released when pouring one glass of beer into another glass of beer?

Recently I was at a cafe with friends. Someone poured his new pint (33cl) of beer into his nearly empty half liter of beer. Both beers were from the same brand. Someone else responded and said it was dangerous because of “the acid”. I suppose by that they mean dihydrogen carbonate. Is it really dangerous or is it just a myth?

Dear Tim,
“Acide” is a terrible word for the carbon dioxide released by the pouring. Carbon dioxide or CO2 is a harmless gas that occurs in all drinks with sparkling or foam. Even if you colander glass water or cola, with or without a leftover, this gas will be released. Even if your sparkling drink is simply standing still, this gas will escape. So it is a myth that this is dangerous.
