Not clear enough Chinese
The Italian DR Automobiles is a special company. It sells a whole range of Chinese models under its own brand names in its home country of Italy. The company is not clear enough about the Chinese origins of its cars. The Italian competition authority thinks so.
The Italian competition and market authority Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato (AGCM) says it is launching an investigation into DR Automobiles. According to the Italian authorities, DR Automobiles generally communicates misleadingly about where the cars it sells are produced. AGCM says DR Automobiles may be acting in violation of the rules of the Italian Consumer Code. According to the competition club, the company uses information on its website and in advertising to wrongly suggest that the cars are built entirely in Italy, while in fact they are cars built in China.
Which four-wheeled goods does DR Automomobiles offer? The Italian company has two car brands: DR and EVO. The company has been selling cars under the DR brand name since 2007. Currently there are about seven: the DR 1.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 and the PK8. Six of these are cars from the Chinese brand Chery. This concerns the Chery eQ1, the Tiggo 3x, the Tiggo 5x (pre-facelift and facelift), the Tiggo 7 and the Tiggo 8. The PK8 is a pick-up from JAC. EVO, which was founded in 2020, also sells a jumble of models from Chery and JAC. For example, the EVO 3, 4 are successively a JAC Refine S2, Refine S3. The Evo Cross 4 is a JAC, but the Evo 8 is again a Sehol X8. More brand chaos? Certainly. DR Automobiles also has sub-brands since this year ICKX and Sports team. Various Chinese-made models are also sold under these brands.
