Iveco closes deal with Hyundai for hydrogen buses

Hyundai will supply fuel cells to truck and bus builder Iveco for its hydrogen buses. The deal specifically concerns Europe.

Specifically, the Italian company Iveco concludes a deal with HTWO, a new branch of Hyundai that focuses on the development of fuel cells, which convert hydrogen into electrical energy. Although Hyundai also supplies a fuel cell in the Nexo passenger car, it is generally accepted that this technology can be very useful, especially for larger vehicles. This explains why Iveco wants to electrify its (city) buses in this way.

Iveco specifically mentions Europe and also home country Italy as the sales market for the hydrogen buses. The buses must also be built in Italy. By, among other things, these buses, the company says it aims to play a leading role in the energy transition of European public transport.

Iveco has traditional links with Fiat, but is not part of the Stellantis group. Instead, it stands on its own two feet, as one of the brands of the Iveco Group. Iveco makes trucks, buses and vans (Daily), but also military vehicles and industrial powertrains under various names.
