Line-up made clear for last year
Next year the last Jaguars F-Type will roll off the production line. This puts an end to ten years of production of the British sportsman. For the final model year, Jaguar is simplifying the F-Type lineup and adding the ’75’ swing-out edition, celebrating 75 years of the brand’s sports cars.
The Jaguar F-Type appeared on the market in 2013. Initially only as a convertible, but later also as a coupé. Next year, ten years after its introduction, the sports car will be finished. From 2025, Jaguar only wants to produce fully electric cars, so the brand is moving away from its combustion engines. Ian Callum, who put the coupé lines of the car on paper, hinted in 2016 on a mid-engine successor for the F-Type. Given Jaguar’s current ambitions, that will not continue. If Jaguar brings another sports car on the market, it will be electric.
Not only will ten years of F-Type come to an end, but also – for the time being – 75 years of Jaguar sports cars. In 1948 the Jaguar XK120 came on the market, at the time the fastest production car you could buy and Jaguar’s first sportsman. To celebrate, the brand is now launching the 75 editions of the F-Type: extra richly equipped ‘special editions’ for the last model year.
With the help of those editions, Jaguar makes the line-up of the F-Type, which was still quite extensively facelifted in 2019, a lot more clear. You can still choose from a four- or eight-cylinder engine, with outputs from 300 to 575 hp, in that regard little changes. The overview is in the versions: the 450 hp F-Type with V8 (two or four-wheel drive) and the 575 hp F-Type R (always four-wheel drive) will only be available next year as a 75 edition. If you don’t like the 75 gear, then you are condemned to the four-cylinder with 300 hp (always rear-wheel drive). That is the only motorization that can still be ordered as a non-75 edition from next year.
Always 20-inch
Whichever engine you choose, 20-inch wheels are now standard on the F-Type. The 75 and 75 R have their own wheel designs, respectively all-black 5-spoke or partly black 10-spoke models with diamond cut-finish. Furthermore, Jaguar will cover the 75 edition as desired in the Giola Green metallic paint color that is unique for that version. In addition, the 75 editions are quite fully equipped: softer leather, a suede headliner and sportier seats are all standard. Things like an adaptive suspension and an electronically controlled differential lock are also standard on that version, as well as some badges unique to this version with the silhouette of the F-Type. The prices for the Jaguar F-Type 75 and F-Type R 75 are not yet known. They appear in both coupe and convertible form.
