Jaguar has presented a new entry-level version of the electric i-Pace in Germany. The model is called full Jaguar i-Pace EV320 SE and costs exactly the same as the more powerful, already existing EV400 variant. That seems strange, but there is a good explanation.
The number in the type designation of Jaguar’s EV refers to the power in (European) horsepower. This means we immediately know that the EV320 has 80 hp less than the existing EV400. With 320 hp and 500 Nm, an i-Pace sprints from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.4 seconds, while an EV400 does that job in 4.8 seconds. In contrast to the entry-level version of the Audi E-tron, the battery is not repaired in this case. Consumption and range values are therefore equal to those of the stronger model, so that the EV320 is good for 470 WLTP kilometers. Like the most recent EV400, the EV320 comes with an 11 kW three-phase charger as standard.
The EV320 SE is currently only proposed in Germany and costs exactly the same as the recently facelifted EV400 variant. That seems strange, but the explanation is in the ‘SE’. This refers to the middle of the three trim levels, while the 400 version comes standard as a meager S. The EV320 comes standard with 20-inch wheels, more advanced LED headlamps and 14-way adjustable front seats.
Jaguar in Germany charges € 75,351 for both cars at a net price of € 64,957. This means that both variants in Germany are eligible for a purchase bonus of € 7,500, because this applies to cars with a net value of up to 65 grand. For now, the EV320 is primarily a way to have an attractive offer below that magical limit, but a career in other countries seems a logical continuation for the i-Pace EV320.
