Despite relative silence
Jaguar will only sell electric cars from 2025. That’s what the British have been saying for quite some time. However, they have not yet come up with concrete plans. We now know that Jaguar Land Rover wants to market Jaguar’s future EVs quite high, but how exactly is unknown. That will change this year, the British AutoExpress now reports.
With a relatively old model range, Jaguar is not exactly one of the most relevant car brands in the news at the moment. But behind the scenes things are going well, as it turns out. British AutoExpress spoke to Jaguar CEO Adrian Mardell, who said that the development of the electrification strategy is on track. He calls the investments required ‘affordable’, not least thanks to the success of the Land Rover Defender and Range Rovers.
The brand’s first new EV will be on the market in 2025 and we will hear more about this this year, says the CEO. We expect a crossover that is highly placed in the market, because Jaguar as a brand no longer wants to compete with Mercedes-Benz and BMW, for example. It is looking even higher for higher margins. It has compatriot Bentley on the grain. At the top of the market, it reportedly wants to place at least three crossovers, all three of which are on the same new platform. The ‘most affordable’ of those three would already get a starting price of around a ton. Mardell says Jaguar will finalize its 2025 lineup in three to six months.
