Jaguar will change its entire strategy in the coming years. We can expect a new model range that will look very different than we are used to from the brand.
More and more is becoming clear about the ‘new Jaguar’ that we can expect from the middle of this decade. CEO Thierry BollorĂ© recently announced that Jaguar is working on its own EV platform and is now also making more clear about the model strategy. The Frenchman, according to Auto, Motor und Sport apart that only the I-Pace has a longer life. For the rest, all models that are still available will disappear and, if we understand it correctly, there will be no direct successors either.
That means we have to say goodbye to more than just fuel engines at Jaguar. The brand, which will only sell fully electric models by 2025, is leaving relatively affordable models such as the XE and XF and puts an end to the F-Type, but more striking: the SUVs E-Pace and F-Pace are not coming back either. In fact, BollorĂ© hints that SUVs should no longer be expected at all. That is very remarkable in this day and age. Jaguar wants to become a brand that distinguishes itself with unique electric cars with ‘distinctive proportions’. It probably won’t be bargains, since Jaguar previously indicated that it wanted to move towards Bentley territory.
Panthera
There is quite a bit of work to be done. Last year, Jaguar flirted with the idea of using an EV base from another manufacturer. Recently, however, it has been decided that it will launch its own base called ‘Panthera’. That is quite late when you consider that the current offer (except for the I-Pace) will be gone in 2025. If the new model range still wants to be somewhat diverse in 2025, the British can therefore hurry.
