The JBL Tour Pro 3 earbuds must of course have a better sound quality and better ANC than the predecessor and especially because they are 50 euros more expensive. Are the JBL Tour Pro 3 in-Ears better and what else has been improved?

With the announcement of the new JBL Tour Pro 3, JBL immediately raised the bar: “According to JBL, the new Tour Pro 3 are their most advanced True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds. This is thanks to the introduction of Dual Drivers, JBL Spatial 360 with Head Tracking, True Adaptive Noise Cancellation 2.0 and a Smart Charging CaseThat is why read our review of the successor of the JBL Tour Pro 2 (briefly had, striking the long battery life and noise canceling) or these in-ears could live up to it ….

Design
The two Tour Pro 3 earbuds are very similar to the Pro 2 version with a sleek premium design and 6.1 grams per in-ear, but due to the double drivers they are somewhat (16 mm) thicker. However, they are still nice and light and sometimes you don’t even realize that you have them in, but so pleasant. With the wearing comfort it is also good and thanks to those double drivers, the sound quality is better.
It’s great that JBL paves 5 pairs of silicone tips and thanks to the tips from Foamrubber, everyone will find the correctly suitable tips for his ears. Incidentally, you can indicate that in the JBL Headphones app that you use it for the best sound reproduction.

Set JBL Tour Pro 3

A striking difference is in the case. The screen has become quite larger, the case itself not. On the bright color screen with touch control you can clearly read how much battery the earplugs and case still have, time and which number is being played.

Handy is the fact that you can connect the case to an audio device without Bluetooth thanks to the USB-C port on the bottom of the case. This makes your earbuds connected immediately and more stable, because a better connection than Bluetooth.

More functions: Auracast, Head Tracking and JBL Spatial 360
Last September, during the consumer electronics fair IFA in Berlin, JBL already showed me the possibilities of Auracast. Another device also has auracast functionality, then you share that content by means of the Auracast button on the screen of the case (that case is not called Smart Charging Case for nothing). Example: Suppose you are at Schiphol and you see a sports broadcast on one of the many screens hanging there. If this (soon) also has the Auracast functionality, you can connect to that screen and hear the (live) report via your earplugs. Future music? Yes, but will come once.
In addition, the JBL Tour Pro 3 has head tracking where the sound stays in a fixed place, even if you move your head. With Spatial 360, the (stereo) sound must, as it were, hear all around you, or more spatial …

ANC, Personi-Fi and LDAC
Of course the JBL Tour Pro 3 has ANC and the True Adaptive Noise Cancellation 2.0. This is said that preferably 50,000 times per second, the environment measures itself to changes in the environment. 6 microphones and a wind -resistant design must provide clear and unfulformed conversations.
AI was the magic word during the CES in Las Vegas and as a good second one came ‘personalization’ after that. Regularly not justified, but to listen to music I understand. In any case, not only your music preference is a matter of taste, but certainly also how you listen to music: a lot or less bass, many high tones whether or not, much volume or not, etc. For a personalized sound, the personi-fi has to be 3.0 Hate test offering a tailor-made sound profile: this JBL algorithm measures and carefully adjusts the individual hearing profile using 12 frequency bands for EQ compensation and 14 Warble-BONS. The adjustments are made separately for each ear.
Finally, the HI-res certified wireless Audiocodec LDAC (only for at least Android 8.0, not for iPhones) supplies three times more data than the standard Bluetooth codecs, so that the high-resolution sound further improves the audio quality.

Usage
You have not just done 1,2,3 the ‘installing’ the earplugs if you at least tackle it properly. Once linked you can opt for an ear canal test (the word says it all) on which the noise reduction (ANC) is set for the best result. There is also a fit test, where the in-ears determine themselves (yes) or close them properly. I advise you to do that. You can also visit the user -friendly app to test this again (check my best fit). In any case, it is good to view the app for a number of settings: you can put the voice commands on the Dutch language.

Sound
Nice all that explanation about the functions, features and more, but in the end it’s all about how the music sounds: you buy earplugs in almost all cases. And I am enthusiastic about what I hear, I enjoy the sound quality and clear audio where the ANC also does its job well. Details are well audible, the bass is not clearly present (that is not always the case with JBL) and the high tones are clear and clear, in short good audio display.
On my flight to the CES in Las Vegas I used these earplugs for hours, whereby I could also connect it to the entertainment system of the plane. And then those many functions and features do indeed turn out to be a very good added value, just like that handy case.

Battery
Also not unimportant is the battery life at in-ears and here too the JBL Tour Pro 3 scores (very) well. During the tests I came out with ANC about 8.5 hours, without ANC half longer. And then I am talking about without the use of the case, because with that you charge the earplugs three more times.

Price, colors and availability
The JBL Tour Pro 3 is available in many places in the colors Black and Latte for a suggested retail price of € 299.99, which is 50 euros higher than the Tour Pro 2. We do see that it is available in more places around the 250 euros.

Conclusion
With the Tour Pro 3, JBL presents stylish wireless earplugs that stand their ground in a large competitive market. A suggested retail price of 299 euros is not wrong for in-ears, but then you really have something: good sound quality, excellent noise canceling and a (super) handy case. With the JBL Tour Pro 3 you are recommended!
