Jeep Avenger 4xe

The Jeep Avenger is already available in many engine versions, but there was no variant with four-wheel drive. Until now. This is the Jeep Avenger 4xe. Although its name suggests otherwise, it is not a plug-in hybrid.

In the market for a compact crossover from one of the Stellantis brands? Then you can choose from a large arsenal of models. One of the options is the Jeep Avenger and the smallest Jeep is also available with many different types of powertrains. It is available with a 100 hp 1.2 with manual gearbox, as a 100 hp mild-hybrid e-Hybrid with automatic transmission and as a fully electric and 156 hp powerful electric Avenger Full Electric. There is now another drivetrain: the 4xe.

Until now, Jeep used the designation 4xe for plug-in hybrid engine versions, but the Jeep Avenger 4xe does not have a plug. Under the hood is a 136 hp mild-hybrid 1.2 three-cylinder, a petrol engine that drives the front wheels. The Avenger 4xe has two electric motors of 28 hp each. There is a copy at the front and back. The 4xe is therefore the only engine version of the Avenger that has four-wheel drive. Shifting is just like in the 100 hp mild-hybrid e-Hybrid with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It reaches a speed of 100 km/h from a standstill in 9.5 seconds and has a top speed of 194 km/h.

Is the Avenger 4xe always four-wheel drive? No. At speeds up to 30 km/h, all four wheels are driven, at speeds from 30 to 90 km/h the rear wheels step in if necessary. And from 90 km/h, only the front wheels are driven. Interesting: the Avenger 4xe is the only motorcycle version of the Avenger with a multi-link rear suspension.

Appearance

To increase the go-anywhere capability of the Avenger 4xe, Jeep places the new four-wheel drive version 1 centimeter higher on its feet than the front-wheel drive alternatives. But there are more external differences. Look at the bumper work and the higher positioned fog lamps, the roof rails and the visible rear towing eye. The front and rear bumpers differ visually from those of the other Jeep versions and are finished with a scratch-resistant layer. In addition, the Avenger 4xe has black plastic wheel arch edges, skid plates and a sticker on the hood. The Avenger 4xe comes standard with M+S tires, All Terrain rubber is an option. On the inside, the 4xe distinguishes itself from the less adventurous motorcycle versions with its ‘washable’ special front seats.

We do not have Dutch prices yet, they will be available in the fourth quarter of this year. The Jeep Avenger 4xe is available in Upland and Overland versions.
