Jeep is about to give the four-year-old Compass a facelift. Earlier we were able to view the exterior through the unofficial channels. Now it is Jeep itself that gives a first sign of life from the sharpened Compass. For the first time, we also see what is being changed in the interior.
Although the current generation of the Jeep Compass has only been on the European market since 2017, the model itself is a year older. Jeep has been working behind the scenes on a facelift for a while. At the beginning of this month, the first photos of the renewed Compass surfaced in China. Those images went hand in hand with an interior photo showing nothing new. Jeep has now released a set of teaser plates of the facelifted Compass that do show a new interior.
Jeep Compass (new)
The Compass interior, which looks slightly outdated in 2020, will be completely revised. For example, the complete part in front of the co-driver is replaced by a new two-layer structure with more angularly designed ventilation grilles. The dashboard appears to be partially covered with soft materials over the entire width. The center console will also be overhauled. The in-dash display that comes with the infotainment system is exchanged for a screen that protrudes slightly from the dashboard. Below it we see new physical buttons. One of these is currently located in a button island lower on the center console. Also new: the ventilation grilles under the infotainment system. On the left side of the zipper physical buttons Jeep places a modified start button. Currently, it is still in the place where you would previously prick a ignition key, right next to the steering column.
The back of the refreshed Jeep Compass remains shrouded in mystery for a while. We do know that the SUV will get a different muzzle with flatter headlights. At the bottom of the front hangs a completely new front bumper. The engines will probably not be tinkered with, which means that the 130 hp and 150 hp 1.3Ts and the plug-in hybrid 4xe will remain as they are. Whether and when the Jeep Compass will undergo the changes in Europe is not yet clear.
