Renegade and Compass 4xe go on sale quickly
Jeep Renegade and Compass 4xe
Jeep tells more about the off-road capabilities of the Renegade and Compass 4xe. The regular versions of the plug-in hybrid Jeeps will be in the showrooms soon.
The First Editions are currently available of the plug-in hybrids Jeep Renegade 4xe and Jeep Compass 4xe. The regular performances will follow in the not too distant future. They will be available in three trim levels: Limited Business, S and Trailhawk. The latter is the ultimate terrain version for ‘diehard’ off-roaders – with extra horsepower too. Nevertheless, the Limited Business and S also have terrain skills.

All three are equipped with ‘eAWD’ four-wheel drive: a fuel engine in the front and electric motors on the rear axle. This means that traction is always immediately available on the rear wheels. Furthermore, the continuous presence of high voltage current contributes to this, regardless of the state of charge of the battery.
Off-roading is further supported by the extra pulling power provided by the electric motors – up to 50 percent more on the Trailhawk compared to the 170 hp diesel. The Renegade and Compass 4xe are completely watertight sealed. This way you can safely wade through water with the hybrids.

Traction modes
The Jeep Selec-Terrain traction control system now offers a Sport mode, specifically for the city, in addition to the well-known modes such as Snow, Sand / Mud and Rock. This switches on both the combustion engine and the electric motor. You get a sharper throttle response, you can steer tighter and the transmission shows a more suitable behavior for the ‘urban jungle’.
Together with Auto mode, these are combined into two 4×4 traction modes. At 4WD-Lock, four wheels are continuously driven up to 15 km / h. The 4WD Low mode is designed to maximize the off-road capabilities in very difficult terrain. Jeep has extensively tested the new models under all kinds of circumstances. Also not unimportant: thanks to the hybrid drive you can off-road and still keep fuel consumption within limits.
