From now on you will be more likely to read John Vanderaart’s weekly column on pcactive.nl. And John is still working on his navigation system in his column You have to learn to navigate part 3, although it is actually a different job.
Remember my new car navigation system, as you can read in Navigating is something you need to learn, part 1 and part 2? There was still one job open: “the reversing camera.” The reversing camera (in the license plate holder) ultimately turned out to be around 30 euros, and the DAB antenna (for 40 euros) was also added for digital radio. When I received the parts, I stood there and looked at them… In an appropriate panic. “How on earth to do that?” But luckily I know one car pimp here just down the street. He had ‘some time for me’ and with just 1,2,3 tips I was completely on the right track. You just need to know what to loosen and how to reattach later. Above all, act relaxed and neatly route the wires towards the dashboard. So without violence. Connecting the power for the reversing camera to the wire of the reversing light was the most complicated part, but fortunately our car pimp offered a solution with a handy coupling piece. The DAB antenna was a lot easier to install, but for it to work an extra app had to be installed. A little later, excellent reception and even better sound. If I had to say so myself… However, not me but my wife always has the say: “That bass sound is way too cool! Can’t you do anything at all?” And I have to be honest, tidying up the bass sound ultimately turned out to be my biggest problem, because I completely overlooked the app to be used for that. Luckily my girl had nothing to complain about the reversing camera…
That was quite a hassle, that reversing camera… But once it works, it’s great!
