The American Karma Automotive will soon release its first fully electric model, but the manufacturer plans to add models with a fuel cell on board to its future portfolio. To make that possible, Karma Automotive is now entering into a partnership with developer Blue World Technologies.
Last year, Karma Automotive announced the arrival of the GSe-6, an electric variant of the yet to be revealed GS range. Although the GSe-6 will only be a variant of the GS line, it will be the brand’s first fully electric car. Karma also seems to be interested in carrying models with a fuel cell, according to a collaboration that Karma Automotive has entered into with Blue World Technologies.
Karma is working with Blue World Technologies to investigate whether a full range of fuel cell passenger and light commercial vehicles could be viable. It does not stop at an exploration. Karma says that it has already equipped a small fleet of the already mentioned GS-6 with a fuel cell from Blue World Technologies. The first field tests will take place in the coming months, in both the United States and Denmark. It is not yet known when Karma will communicate its test results and a possible final decision about the arrival of ‘hydrogen models’.
In the Netherlands we know the name ‘Karma’ mainly from the Fisker Karma, a plug-in hybrid that appeared on the market in 2011. About six years ago, the car brand Fisker, founded by designer Henrik Fisker, went bust. The Chinese Wanxiang Group took care of the remnants of the toko and renamed the company Karma Automotive. The Fisker Karma is now available in a modified form as Revero in the United States. Henrik Fisker is no longer active at the company, the designer is very busy with his own car brand Fisker, which has a first EV in the development rooms with the Ocean.
