Kawasaki announces Ninja 1100SX

You could have sensed it in your clogs. Following the recently announced Versys 1100, Kawasaki has also covered the Ninja 1000 SX with the same 1100 sauce. In addition, the Ninja 1100 SX is available as an SE version for the first time in the history of this model. Kawasaki hopes to maintain its dominant position in the Sport Tour segment for even longer.

Kawasaki announces Ninja 1100SX

We already wrote in our first reporting about the Versys 1100, after the homologation documents of the model were leaked in Australia, that we would not be surprised if the Ninja 1000 SX also received the same upgrade.

After all, both models had the same 1,043 cc four-cylinder inline engine as the power source. Although with a completely different power output, it is basically the same power source. A power source that would be increased to 1,099 cc by extending the stroke length by 3 mm.

We were right twice. Indeed, the press release for the Versys 1100 revealed that Kawasaki had increased the stroke length by 3mm for a displacement of 1,099cc, while the most recent reporting has now announced the Ninja 1100 SX. We just did not see the arrival of the SE model coming, but it is actually a very logical step considering that the Versys and the Ninja H2 SX also have an SE model.

Unlike the Versys 1100, Kawasaki has kept the power of the Ninja 1100 SX the same as its 1,043 cc predecessor. The torque must have increased across the board, but exact values are not mentioned. A new quickshifter, which is now active from 1,500 rpm, and a heavier flywheel further contribute to this flexibility. Changed transmission ratios provide a longer 5th and 6th gear for more economical and comfortable driving at higher speeds.

The aluminum frame, high-quality suspension and a variety of electronic driver assistance systems such as Traction Control, Cornering ABS and Cornering Management remain. All controlled by a 6-axis IMU and therefore dependent on inclination. To enhance the sporty character, the Ninja 1100SX is equipped with Bridgestone Battlax S23 tires.

In terms of design, Kawasaki has kept almost everything the same, except for new fresh colors. Almost new is the now standard USB-C connection, which allows smartphones to easily be charged all day long for navigation or for using the updated Kawasaki Rideology app. The app is now voice control ready, anticipating the next generation of rider-machine connectivity.

The Ninja 1100SX will also be available as an SE variant. This version is equipped with Brembo brake components including M4.32 brake calipers, master cylinder, steel braided brake lines and discs.

In addition, the SE is equipped with an Öhlins S46 rear shock with adjustable spring preload, which is easy to adjust using a separate adjustment knob. This allows the tension to be easily adjusted to the load or driving style. As icing on the cake, heated handles are standard on this variant.

The 2025 Ninja 1100SX is available in Metallic Carbon Gray / Metallic Diablo Black. With the Ninja 1100SX SE you can choose from Emerald Blazed Green / Metallic Diablo Black and Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Gray / Metallic Diablo Black. Price and delivery time are not yet known.
