Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX is back (with a vengeance))

When it turned out that Kawasaki had not adapted the Ninja H2 SX to the strict emission requirements of Euro 5, everyone wondered if this was the premature end of the Supercharger? Two years later, that turned out to have been a completely wrong conclusion, Team green has taken the most advanced Supercharged Sport Tourer ever to the next level.

Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX is back (with a vengeance))

To start with the good news: Euro 5 has had no effect at all on its performance with the new Ninja H2 SX: Kawasaki claims a top power of 200 hp at 11,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 137 Nm with this 2022 version at 8,500 rpm.

So what top power is no difference and remarkably enough, the maximum torque has even improved a little bit. More important than the 3 Nm more torque, however, is that the Supercharged block between 4,000 and 8,000 rpm torque. At least that’s what Kawasaki claims.

The engine is supported by an arsenal of driver assistance systems such as: Traction Control, Launch Control, Intelligent ABS, Engine Brake Control, integrated driving modes, up/down quickshifter and Kawasaki’s Cornerning Management function, which is just that little bit different from the cornering ABS systems of Bosch and Continental.

As the first Japanese motorcycle, the new Ninja H2 SX now also features the Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) radar system. The addition of the radar system brings with it a number of state of the art features, including: Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Blind-Spot Detection. And those are, as we now know from the Multistrada V4, damn handy gadgets.

To fulfill its Touring aspirations, there are numerous features to enhance rider comfort. Think of standard heated grips, keyless ignition, tire pressure monitor and Vehicle Hold Assist. When the rider has come to a stop, the VHA can be switched on by squeezing the brakes a little harder. When driving off, the system automatically switches off again. New saddles for the rider and co-driver increase the seating comfort.

The high-end experience continues in the cockpit, where a brand new 6.5″ TFT color display is provided. In addition to the very extensive essential information, the screen also offers the Kawasaki SPIN “screen in screen” infotainment system. SPIN allows you to Bluetooth or WiFi to connect a smartphone and use up to 20 apps such as navigation, weather forecasts, music, phone contacts and much more.

The high-profile styling has been updated on several points. For example, the radar at the front is fully integrated into the fairing under the now slimmer headlight. All lighting is now LED, including dynamic cornering lighting. The whole is finished with Kawasaki’s unique self-repairing paint that repairs small scratches on its own.

In addition to the standard Ninja H2 SX, there is – as before – the more exclusive Ninja H2 SX SE, which is distinguished by Kawa’s well-known semi-active electronic suspension with SHOWA Skyhook philosophy. The difference between normal semi-active and Skyhook semi-active is that with Skyhook comfort is the starting point – as if the motor is hung on an invisible hook.

In addition to the suspension, the SE model is equipped with Brembo Stylema brake calipers for even better braking performance, a special color scheme and polished wheels.

The new Ninja H2 SX and Ninja H2 SX SE will be available from the end of February 2022 in Emerald Blazed Green/Metallic Diablo Black/Metallic Graphite Gray. Prices will be announced later.
