Kawasaki has rolled out another recall for the Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z 7 Hybrid in the United States. The steel tube of the headset may not be properly welded to the frame tubes, which could cause cracks in the weld. Kawasaki USA expects to have a solution to the issue later this month and is calling on owners not to use the motorcycle for a while.
Not much is known yet, Kawasaki is investigating the issue and there is therefore no solution yet, but what we do know is that Kawasaki has declared a sales stop in the United States for the two hybrid models, the Ninja 7 Hybrid and the Z 7 Hybrid, and owners were asked not to drive the motorcycles.
What’s going on? Kawasaki has discovered that on some units of the Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z 7 Hybrid, the headset pipe is not properly welded to the frame, which can cause cracks in the weld. In a worst-case scenario, the headset could tear off. It is estimated that approximately 1% have the defect.
Kawasaki USA expects to have a solution to this problem later this month and says it will inform owners via letters. Until a solution is found, owners are asked not to use the engine.
Although it appears to be a global issue, the person we spoke to at Kawasaki Benelux says he knows nothing about it. This message will be updated as soon as more information becomes available.
