Kawasaki shows H2 Hyse on Le Mans Hydrogène Symposium

On September 10, the famous Circuit of 24 Heures in Le Mans was not dominated by gasoline, but of hydrogen. During Le Mans Hydrogène, around 300 professionals from industry and government came together to discuss the future of mobility – and Kawasaki grabbed the stage to show her Ninja H2 Hydrogen Ice again.

It was already the third public demo of the hydrogen project. Earlier, the H2 made its world debut during the 8 hours of Suzuka 2024 and Europe was shown its first glimpse at the 24h Le Mans 2025. This time Kawasaki test driver Matthias Hoeppner was allowed to go on the French asphalt for two laps, where the adapted Ninja H2 showed (and especially see) what is possible with hydrogen.

The machine has two hydrogen tanks and an adapted version of Kawasaki’s famous supercharged four -cylinder. The result: performance that you expect from a Ninja H2, but with almost no emissions.

With this prototype, Kawasaki investigates how alternative fuels can play a role in the future of motorcycling. The project is part of Hyse (Hydrogen Small Mobility & Engine Technology), in which Kawasaki cooperates with other Japanese superpowers. Purpose: jobs to CO₂ neutral two-wheelers.

Afterwards, Hoeppner emphasized the impact of these types of demos:

“We have already driven at several events in recent months, including the Tour de France. Everywhere we go, we see how great interest is. People are really curious and happy that Kawasaki takes the lead in hydrogen technology for engines.”
